Drip tape applications

Drip tape is used for drip irrigation of row and seasonal crops such as tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, strawberries, onions, sunflowers, melons, watermelons, sugar beets, corn and other weeds. Drip irrigation tape can also be used in greenhouses.

Drip Tape

It is very suitable for drip irrigation of dense and row crops. This tape is used for drip irrigation of vegetables, summer crops, row plants, forage, etc. such as watermelon, tomato, onion, potato, corn, strawberry and greenhouse cultivation. Drip irrigation tape is suitable for drip irrigation on shallow surface and subsurface. For deep subsurface irrigation, the use of drip pipes is recommended. C-Plast drip tape is suitable for drip irrigation of potatoes, corn and the ones like them.

What is drip tape?

It is a type of pipes with drippers specialized for drip irrigation. It was first produced in the United States about 50 years ago.

It is made of polyethylene and usually each roll is  hundreds of meters (1000 to 3000 meters). This tape is very soft, unlike hard polyethylene pipe. In fact, the type tape has a soft and flexible material that fills when water enters it, and after the end of irrigation, the tape becomes flat again. The wall thickness of the tape is very thin and is usually between 0.1 and 0.6 mm (each 0.1 mm is called 100 microns). Thicker tapes are usually used for subsurface irrigation of various plants.

Water droplets exist through drippers installed on the tape irrigation strip; The distance between the drippers in the irrigation tape varies and is usually between 10 and 60 cm. The most widely used type of irrigation tape in terms of distance between drippers are 20 and 30 cm strips.

Advantages of using drip irrigation tape:

Drip irrigation tape can be used on most lands and patches. It does not require much water pressure and can be used on farms with limited ups and downs without the need for land leveling. Also, the tape can be installed during cultivation by using a tractor.

The advantages of the tape include the following:

1- Easy and fast installation and easy transportation of the tape (light weight)

2- Irrigation tape fittings are available in simple and standard pieces and the method of installing it manually and by machine is very simple.

3- The polymer material for the tape prevents algae and mineral deposits from sticking to it.

4- Resistance of irrigation tape to the sun and ultraviolet rays of the sun, chemical fertilizers, pesticides, pest control and agricultural sprays

5 – Possibility of installing the tape on the ground, under the ground or even in between.

6- Saving water consumption and increasing the area under cultivation

7- Increasing crop yield and preventing the spread and growth of weeds on the surface of agricultural land
